Laser Shot’s Boat Crew &Gunnery Trainer consists of an immersive training environment (the “Pod”) that places trainees in high fidelity virtual environments in order to train effectively on a variety of crew level operational tasks and extremely realistic waterborne gunnery. The advanced training courseware of Virtual Battlespace 2’s Tactical Weapon Simulator (VBS2-TWS) and Laser Shot’s Advanced Tactical Simulator (ATS), combine with exclusive laser-based individual and crew served training weapons, to deliver the most realistic and immersive conditions possible in a training environment.
The Boat Crew & Gunnery Trainer is organized around the main training Pod. A pod contains a single boat mockup (end user’s choice of mockup) mounted to either a stationary or a three degree of freedom (3 dof) motion platform. Surrounding the boat trainer are either four, six, or eight borderless projection screens positioned in pairs around the boat in accordance for each weapon engagement area
Each realistic combat vessel mockup is replicated with the helm and navigation stations, as well as gun mount positions for crew served weapons.
The Boat Crew & Gunnery Trainer utilizes short throw video projectors enabling dismounted trainees to approach each screen up to 18”, enabling a variety of off-boat combat and crew training. An optimal 32’ x 40’ Pod size allows for combatants to move approximately six (6) feet from any side of the boat.
