Laser Shot brings 21st century technology to military and law enforcement training through a unique “Legacy Range Modernization” program. The Legacy Range Modernization program equips aging shooting ranges and shoot houses with fully interactive, game based or video based targetry to support Close Quarters Battle tasks. The exclusive technology of Laser Shot’s Thermal Shot™ Live-Fire Virtual Targetry System is new and innovative and the Special Operations Forces of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy have already begun upgrades to improve their current facilities.
The Thermal Shot™ Live-Fire Virtual Targetry System replaces antiquated static targets that provide little real-life training value, with fully-immersive, life-sized, full-motion computer generated imagery that may be displayed across entire target walls. Shooters using the Thermal Shot™ system enter a shoot house or similar combat environment equipped exactly as they would fight (no special equipment or instrumentation), and see projections of realistic, moving 3D virtual targets made to support tactical training.

Thermal Shot™ virtual targetry enables live-fire training on variety of skill levels through comprehensive courseware for both shoot houses and shooting ranges. A variety of game based courseware is available such as Laser Shot’s Virtual Shoot House (LVS), specifically tuned for converting a shoot house into an ultra-realistic CQB training facility with life-sized 3D target models that replicate life-like human movement.. LVS training courseware enables an instructor with the dynamic to change environmental settings such as lighting, textures, and character actions each time a shooter enters into a scenario. Scenarios are built to fit the using unit’s mission area of operation and unique tactical training needs.
Thermal Shot™ is also available with state-of-the-art individual marksmanship courseware. Laser Shot’s marksmanship courseware focuses on hand-eye coordination while providing challenging ways to improve skills such as speed, accuracy, and target discretion. All courseware provides the instructor with complete control over the training scenario with abilities to edit, pause, and restart training as needed.
A Thermal Shot™ range modernization package that has begun fielding in the U.S. military requires only camera and projector components to be installed in the shooting bay of range. These components will be housed in a protective shroud that is securely mounted to an overhead truss system (mounting system may vary by installation). The projectors and cameras may be mounted to enable for very short distance live-fire engagements (as close as 21 inches). As many legacy ranges have some degree of exposure to the outside environment, Laser Shot provides a climate controlled lockable shroud that provides protection from debris, most shrapnel, concussion from explosives, and environmental elements. All electrical will be mounted and run overhead so that it will not interfere with the training area and be protected from the environmental elements.
Laser Shot custom configures Thermal Shot™ range modernization packages that are being used to upgrade law enforcement and military range facilities into premier, technologically advanced, live-fire training facilities. The Thermal Shot™ live-fire system may be easily fitted for laser-based training with the addition of Laser Shot laser detection cameras. This enhancement enables a crawl-walk-run approach to training allowing shooters to train with actual weapons fitted with laser (recoil kits or dry fire) or simulated laser weapons.
The Legacy Range Modernization program, with the exclusive technology of Laser Shot’s Thermal Shot™ Live-Fire Virtual Targetry System, transforms legacy shooting ranges into 21st century, highly realistic training facilities for military and law enforcement agencies.
