Laser Shot’s Vehicular Convoy & Gunnery Trainer provides state-of-the-art virtual environments for soldiers to perform both mounted and dismounted combat training. The advanced training courseware of Virtual Battlespace 2 combined with Laser Shot’s individual and crew served laser-based training weapons enables training to be delivered in the most realistic conditions possible
Each Pod of the Vehicular Convoy & Gunnery Trainer consists of a convoy vehicle centered around two, three, or four pairs of borderless video screens. A complete Pod with a 360 degree field of view will comprise of four pairs of screens laid out one pair in front, one pair to the left and right, and one pair to the rear of the vehicle.
The Pod utilizes short throw video projectors enabling combatants to approach each screen up to a close 18” range while training before shadowing the on-screen video. This enables Pods to utilize the majority of their training area and keep the Pod footprint to a minimal 36’ x 32’ training area, which still enables a combatant to move approximately 9’ from any side of the vehicle.
Training scenarios will be fully operated from the Instructor Control Station that accompanies every Pod. The Instructor Control Station will be setup within close proximity to the training Pod to give an Instructor a clear field of view of combatants inside the Pod. The Control Station will allow an Instructor for run-time authoring of the training scenarios. The instructor control station can also be used in offline mode to author new training scenarios from the ground up and can furthermore be used to record and display After Action Review information from the training scenarios.
